National Recording Registry of the Library of Congress

Dolly Parton’s “Coat of Many Colors” has been added to the National Recording Registry of the Library of Congress. Each year, 25 recordings from a variety of genres are chosen as being “culturally, historically or aesthetically significant” to preserve for future generations.  In a press release, the Library of Congress states that Parton’s 1971 recording “affectionately recounts an impoverished childhood in the hills of Tennessee that was made rich by the love of her family.”

Visit Dolly Parton’s Chasing Rainbow at Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, there you’ll see the Coat of Many Colors. I love that song, the story behind the coat.

Congrats  Mrs Dolly Dean Parton! and the future generations !
