Saturday Interview with Ingrid Maroniti from Victoria Australia

Tell me about the day when you became a fan of Dolly…

It all started when i was holidaying with my family and we visited friends that owned a Drive-In theatre. They let us watch a movie and guess what that movie was, The Best Little Whorehouse In Texas so im guessing that was 1982. Ever since then I’ve loved Dolly.

Why is Dolly special for you?

Dolly is special to me because of her personality and her singing of course and most of all her sense of humour. I started collecting her albums and remembering the first one i got was 9 to 5 of my brother for my birthday.

Do you have any dreams of meeting Dolly?

My dream of meeting Dolly has already been fulfilled I met her in November 2011 at the Better Day tour in Melbourne. I won a meet and greet. When I received the email which I never believed i would win one I ran all around the house yelling out that Im going to meet Dolly Parton my family thought I was nuts but they were also happy for me.

Tell me about the day you met Dolly…

When it was time to meet Dolly I wasnt nervous or anything i was excited of course but not nervous. I walked around Melbourne looking for some flowers and a souvenir for her. I found some roses and a little koala bear keyring and took that with me. I arrived very early at the venue because i heard other people had turned up and missed out because they couldnt find where to go that wasnt going to happen to me. I was with my daughter and my best friend they sat with me right up until i was taken away for the meet and greet. They came to the concert with me the next night. It was all so very exciting we went back stage where we waited and we took photos of ourselves standing in front of her bus. Then the moment arrived a spotlight lit up outside the door of the bus and out come Dolly herself. She was so friggin awesome beautiful cant describe her and so tiny. She was just how i imagined her. I was about 4th in line and when i got to her i said hello Dolly and she said hi of course but i think i forgot to say my name cant believe that but anyway. I gave her my roses and they were orange because i love orange and another thing i forgot she loves yellow ones but anyway she said “what color are they”? i said they are orange and she said” oh how beautiful i dont think ive ever seen orange ones before i think they will be my favorite color now” I was wrapped with that. Then she asked ” if i would like them in the picture with us ” and i said yes that would be nice. We had our photo which turned out great i was so happy i knew she would but i was worried i would look awful. Then i said goodbye and that was it. My regret is i never gave her a hug.

Do you have any more goals to make about your dreams?

I still have more dreams to visit Dollywood now and see Dolly there which we are planning on next years opening. Hopefully they will auction off another chance to see Dolly i will pay anything to meet her again.

If you had the possibility to date Dolly, what would you do?

On the dating subject thats a little weird for me but if i had the chance i would love to just sit down and have a latte and just chat with her for hours. That would be so awesome.

Interview with myself

I’m going to interview fans here, but I begin with myself.

Tell me about the day when you became a fan of Dolly…

It was a beautiful day when I found Kenny Rogers LP in my home, I watched the set list and found a song Island in the stream, it had a female voice in it, it was Dolly’s voice I preferred most, in this beautiful song. Then I wanted every album by Dolly. So I took my dad out for shopping Dolly albums. That day when I was seven years I became a fan of the most beautiful voice in the world. I didn’t know how famous she was at the age, now I know, she’s a legend.

Why is Dolly special for you?

I love her lyrics in the music she write. The way she treat peoples, her creativity. The way she talks about her dreams and how to make your dreams come true, like work your ass of and your dreams will come true, find a way to make’em real. Her Imagination Library is very interesting too, that every child from 0 -5 years, get a book every month to read with or without their parents, literature being an important part of their future life. She’s a great inspiration in many ways.

Do you have any dreams of meeting Dolly?

Yes, I want to meet Dolly again, she’s sweet and a cool lady with a great sense of humor. I love her seriousity and laugh.

Tell me about the day when you met Dolly…

I met Dolly at 8/28/11 in Gothenburg before the show began. It was a very special day. The guards didn’t believe me when I’m told’em I’m going to meet Dolly today, so they went to Dolly’s management with my letter from the management that I ‘ve won a Meet & Greet with Dolly. The guard was embarrassed, had a red face and a big smile when he told me witch time I could pick up my Meet and Greet pass. We were about 7 -10 people who got the chance to meet her. When I stood in the line outside the meeting room. Cheryl and Laura looked out from the room and said hi to me, Cheryl ran to me and gave me a hug, her happiness shined thru’ her eyes, it made me less nervous on meeting her boss lady. I was the second person to walk into the Meet and Greet area; I remember hearing Cheryl in the background, saying “It’s Diana” to Dolly. Dolly said “Hi Diana!” and took my hand into hers, and gave me a hug during the talk. What she said, it’s between me and her, it’s too private to share. When they took the photo, I screamed HUG!, and Dolly gave me a bigger hug, and I gave her a bigger hug, after that photo time, we talked a little and squeezed our hands. What a special moment. After the meeting with this amazing lady. I did talk a little with Cheryl, and the she gave me two awesome hugs. What a special day it was. A day I’ll always remember.

Do you have any more goals to make about your Dolly dreams?

I’m dreaming of autographed high heels worn by Dolly, that she’ll sign my photo with her and me, and to meet her again. Visit Dollywood in Pigeon Forge. Going to Nashville and be at the historic places Dolly been/ is at, like to see her offices, studios where she records her albums etc.
